Hurricane Maria: Huntersville Can Help Puerto Rico

Hurricane Maria devastated Puerto Rico, and you can help these American citizens by donating needed items at this event.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — If you want to help with Puerto Rico's recovery from the massive destruction of Hurricane Maria, there's a way. On Sunday, Oct. 22, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Puerto Rico Rises and United for Puerto Rico are teaming together to throw an aid event to gather supplies and donations for the island.

The event is organized to allow Lake Norman residents to donate needed supplies to Puerto Rico recovery efforts, like medical supplies, medicine, first aid, water and life straws, which filter water.

"Our goal is to continue to keep this humanitarian crisis and Puerto Rico's beautiful culture at the forefront of our minds as American citizens living on the island of Puerto Rico will continue to grapple with the devastation for months," the press release said.
