Lake Norman Fishing Tournament Rescheduled For October
The FLW Toyota Series pro bass fishing tournament, which had been scheduled in late April, has been rescheduled for October.
HUNTERSVILLE, NC — A professional bass fishing tournament on Lake Norman that was called off in April has been rescheduled for the fall.
The FLW Toyota Series tournament, which is a five-tournament circuit with a $75,000 top prize, was originally scheduled to run April 30 through May 2. It will now be held October 1 - 3 at Blythe Landing in Huntersville, organizers said. The event is hosted by Mecklenburg County Park & Recreation and Visit Charlotte, and is expected to draw about 300 anglers from around the country.
"After a mid-March pause, FLW competitions have resumed with new COVID-19 guidelines in order to protect the health and safety of staff and participants, to include limiting attendance to only essential personnel and competitors," Visit Lake Norman said in a statement.

“We are extremely excited to get this event rescheduled and retain it on FLW’s schedule. The sports tourism market has long been our #1 market and we are fortunate to have a long history of hosting regional and national pro fishing tournaments, which inherently are better suited for social distancing protocols compared to other sporting events,” said Travis Dancy, director of sales with Visit Lake Norman.
Also scheduled in October is the Carolina Bass Challenge’s Classic, which is set to take place October 23-24 out of Blythe Landing.
