Leaking Tanker Truck Shuts Down Turn Lane On Sam Furr
The left turn lane on Sam Furr Road and Old Statesville Road temporarily closed for clean up.
HUNTERSVILLE, NC — A turn lane at a busy Huntersville intersection closed midday Tuesday after a leaking tanker truck spilled gasoline onto the roadway, creating treacherous driving conditions.
The left turn late from eastbound Sam Furr Road onto Old Statesville Road was shut down around lunchtime June 12 after the leak made the roadway extremely slippery, Huntersville Police said in an alert.
“The fuel tanker traveled quite some distance throughout town, so if you observe any slippery areas in the roadway or smell a strong odor of gasoline, please call 911 so appropriate personnel can respond for clean-up,” HPD said.
