Man Killed In Walmart Was Shot In Stomach During Fight

Police have identified the man shot and killed inside Walmart Monday evening as Jalyn Domonique Craig, 19, of Charlotte.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — A 19-year-old man gunned down inside Walmart Monday evening was shot in the stomach during a fight among several people, Huntersville Police said Tuesday.

The incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. at the store located at 11145 Bryton Town Center Drive. An officer conducting a security check at the store was in the parking lot when he heard two or three shots fired, according to a HPD statement.

“The officer immediately entered Walmart and came in contact with several individuals involved in the incident,” the police department said. Police took four people into custody, and transported them to the police station for questioning.

Police have identified the victim as Jalyn Domonique Craig, 19, of Charlotte. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

HPD said it has identified all individuals involved in the incident and are consulting with the district attorney’s office concerning what, if any, charges will be filed.

"At this time there is no reason for the community to feel unsafe as we believe all responsible parties have been taken into custody," HPD said.
