More Strong Storms For Huntersville This Week: What To Expect

Thunderstorms could pop up leading to heavy rain, localized flooding and and even hail, according to forecasters.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — More rain is headed to Huntersville early this week, with strong storms producing heavy rainfall and possible localized flooding, hail and even wind gusts becoming possible, the National Weather Service warned Monday.

The biggest threat of these storms expected in the afternoon and evening across western North Carolina and South Carolina, however, will be cloud-to-ground lightning, NWS said.

“The storms may produce high rainfall rates that could lead to isolated urban, low lying, and small stream flooding. The flooding threat will be highest over the foothills and westernPiedmont of North Carolina,” NWS said in an Aug. 20 weather bulletin.

More storms will be moving through Tuesday, due to “a robust cold front” forecasters said. “Isolated urban and small stream flooding is also a threat with these storms. The flooding threat will be greatest over the higher terrain,” NWS said.
