No Threat To The Public After Body Found In Huntersville: HPD

Huntersville police are investigating a body was found along an I-77 off ramp at Gilead Road and say there is no threat to public safety.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — An investigation is underway in Huntersville after a body was found along the Interstate 77 off-ramp Sunday evening, according to police who say there is no public threat associated with the discovery.

Huntersville Police closed the southbound off-ramp at Exit 23 at Gilead Road Oct. 14 to collect evidence after the body was spotted by a driver.

It was right alongside the road and the motorist passing by saw it and called police,” HPD chief Cleveland Spruill told WSOC. While no information has officially been released, police on the scene told the station it could possibly be a homicide.

“This is still an ongoing investigation however there has been no reason to show that there is a threat to the public safety at this time,” Huntersville Police Department said Tuesday.
