Road Closure, Detour Planned In Downtown Huntersville

Roadwork planned at the intersection of Gilead Road and Old Statesville Road will come with a detour. Here's what you need to know.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — A roadwork project prompted by a failing sewer pipe in downtown Huntersville means area drivers can expect a detour at the intersection of Gilead Road and Old Statesville Road the weekend, according to the Town of Huntersville.

Beginning the evening of June 21, a contractor working for Charlotte water will excavate the pipe and perform a point repair, the town said Tuesday.

This means that the eastbound land of Huntersville-Concord Road/Gilead Road will be closed at the intersection. Traffic will be detoured south on Old Statesville Road to East Greenway Street and east to South Maxwell Avenue. Traffic can be maintained in other directions by use of lane shifts, the town said.
