Suspected Purse Thief Targeted A Mom During School Drop Off: HPD

Huntersville Police are hoping someone recognizes this suspect, who they say broke a car window and stole a purse Tuesday.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Huntersville Police are asking for the public’s help identifying and locating a man they say is suspected of smashing the window of a woman’s car parked at a Huntersville school, and grabbing her purse while she was dropping off her child.

The incident occurred Tuesday morning at Forrestal Academy, located at 14016 Boren Street in Huntersville. After stealing her purse, the suspect then used the victim’s bank cards at Harris Teeter in the nearby Rosedale Shopping Center, Huntersville Police Department said.

Citing security camera footage, HPD said the suspect’s vehicle is believed to be a Mitsubishi Outlander “with a very distinctive royal blue paint job.”
