Teacher Charged With Sex Offenses Against Student: Police

A Huntersville woman who teaches at a Charlotte high school has been charged with three counts of sexual abuse involving a student.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — A Huntersville resident who teaches at a Charlotte high school has been charged with three crimes related to the sexual abuse of a student, authorities said. Emma Ogle, 63, was charged by Huntersville Police with a crime against nature, indecent liberties with a student and engaging in a sex act with a student.

Ogle, who teaches at Garinger High School in Charlotte, was arrested on Thursday. According to the school website, Ogle is a teacher CTE health occupations teacher.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools officials suspended Ogle with pay pending the outcome of an investigation, WSOC TV reports. A 17-year-old student reported to a school staff member Thursday that Ogle began a relationship with the teen in the spring that later became sexual.

Police arrested Ogle hours after the student's report, the TV station said. Ogle has since been released on bond.

Garinger High School is located at 1100 Eastway Drive in Charlotte.
