Tractor Trailer Fuel Leak On I-77 Leads To Hazmat Cleanup, Delays
Cleanup after a tractor trailer accident on Interstate 77 near Gilead Road in Huntersville led to delays during the morning commute.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Clean up of a fuel leak after a predawn tractor trailer accident on Interstate 77 in Huntersville led to traffic delays in northbound lanes during the morning commute Tuesday.
The accident, which occurred before 5 a.m. in the northbound lanes of the interstate near Exit 23 at Gilead Road, was caused when a tractor trailer spun out in the road, according to Huntersville Fire. The incident caused delays in the northbound I-77 express lanes north of Interstate 485.
A hazardous material cleanup company was dispatched to the scene to off load the fuel from the truck, HFD said.
