Hwy 73 Back Open In Huntersville After Fallen Tree Blocks Lanes

Hwy 73 in Huntersville is back in business after a fallen tree blocked both lanes Monday afternoon, causing traffic delays.

UPDATE: The fallen tree blocking Hwy. 73 in Huntersville has been removed and traffic reopened in both directions, according to Huntersville Fire Department.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC -- A fallen tree on Highway 73 near Hagers Ferry Road in Huntersville has snapped power lines and snarled afternoon commuter traffic in both directions, according to officials.

Huntersville police urged drivers to avoid the area near Duke Energy’s McGuire Nuclear Station.

According to Huntersville Fire officials, Duke was estimating that it could take hours to remove the tree.
