Traffic Alert: Fatal I-77 Crash Closes Northbound Lanes

HUNTERSVILLE, NC -- A fatal accident claimed the life of one person Friday afternoon on northbound Interstate 77. The roadway surrounding the crash scene, located just after Interstate-485, closed down two lanes, according to a Huntersville Fire Department official.

The two right lanes are expected to remain closed while the North Carolina State Highway Patrol investigate the crash, according to HFD spokesman Bill Suthard. The two left lanes are open for passing the scene, he said.

“Expect it to be an active scene for a while and will certainly affect northbound traffic,” he said.
