Trapped Person Rescued From Crash On I-77 In Huntersville

One person was injured after their car crashed into a sign pole along Interstate 77 near the Gilead Road exit Wednesday.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Firefighters rescued a person from a vehicle that crashed along southbound Interstate 77 Wednesday afternoon near Gilead Road at Exit 23, according to Huntersville Fire Department.

Firefighters from Huntersville and Cornelius responded to the crash scene around 3 p.m. Wednesday.

“Our Engine 1 on scene, car versus sign pole, one patient entrapped,” HFD tweeted.

The patient was extricated from the vehicle and was transported to an area hospital, HFD said.

“Continue to use caution in the area and yield to responding units,” it added.
