Two-Car Wreck Leaves 1 Pinned In, Tangles Traffic In Birkdale
Traffic was shut down at Birkdale in Huntersville artery Tuesday afternoon as emergency crews worked to free a driver after a major wreck.
HUNTERSVILLE, NC -- Emergency responders had to extract a driver following a two-car collision that shut down traffic on Sam Furr Road at Birkdale Village for more than an hour Tuesday.
The collision occurred around 1 p.m. Jan. 9, at the intersection of Sam Furr Road and Birkdale Commons, leaving at least one person pinned in, according to Huntersville Fire Department, which was one of the first units on the scene.
Traffic was shuttered on the busy Huntersville artery as emergency crews worked to free the person from the car and in preparation for a medical helicopter to land. However, after the patient was freed from the car, they were taken by paramedics to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
