Women Arrested For Shoplifting At Birkdale: Huntersville Police

Two arrests were made at Birkdale Saturday after $1,500 in merchandise was stolen from Victoria's Secret, Huntersville police say.

HUNTERSVILLE, NC — Five women were detained and two arrested for shoplifting at Birkdale Shopping Center Saturday after attempting to steal merchandise from Dick’s Sporting Goods. Two in the group were also positively identified for stealing about $1,500 in merchandise from Victoria’s Secret earlier in the day, according to Huntersville Police Department.

Officers in Huntersville were responding to the call reporting the theft at Victoria’s Secret when they were given a vehicle description of the vehicle belonging to the suspects. Before they arrived at the shopping center, however, a second call from Dick’s Sporting Goods — also located at Birkdale — reporting that the suspects were concealing merchandise in that store.

The vehicle identified as belonging to the suspects was also found parked outside Dick’s, HPD said.

Officers on the scene placed five women in “investigative detention,” before an employee of Victoria’s Secret identified all five women as being in the store.

“Only two females, Iesha Edward-Springs and Zsadella Burris, were positively identified as the individuals who took the merchandise from Victoria's Secret without paying,” HPD said. “Thanks to quick reporting by Victoria's Secret and Dick's Sporting Goods, and a swift response by Officers, all involved suspects were arrested/identified.”
