• High-end bourbon illegally sold at several Charlotte-area liquor stores: ABC Board (qcnews.com) — State ABC investigators say a Matthews-linked seller negotiated an $8,500 deal for five bottles of rare Pappy Van Winkle bourbon, far above their North Carolina retail value, as part of a wider crackdown on illegal high-end liquor sales. The multi-month operation also cited several Charlotte-area and Huntersville transactions, uncovering a secondary market network reselling rare spirits at steep markups.
