1,300 Without Power In Mooresville: Duke Energy

More than 1,300 Mooresville residents woke to no power Tuesday, according to Duke Energy, which says it should be restored by midday.

MOORESVILLE, NC -- More than 1,300 Mooresville residents woke to no power Tuesday morning, according to Duke Energy. The residential area affected lies north of Highway 150 and west of Interstate 77, near Stumpy Creek Park, according to the energy provider’s outage map.

The power outage was reported at 7:08 a.m. Jan. 2, Duke Energy said, adding that it estimated it would be restored around 11:15 a.m. Tuesday.

While Duke has not said what caused the outage, the National Weather Service warned today that the current cold snap could lead to power outages due to increases in demand for electricity. "A cold arctic air mass has settled in across the region, yielding a cold wave pattern that will linger throughout the week," the National Weather Service said Tuesday morning.
