5 Things To Do In Mooresville This Weekend

It's not quite Valentine's Day but there are still plenty of fun and sweet things to do near Lake Norman this weekend.

MOORESVILLE, NC — February is in full bloom, and this weekend in the Queen City and Lake Norman area is filled with Mardi Gras, all-male ballet, hockey and an arctic plunge.

While we have to wait until Wednesday for Valentine’s Day, there's still a variety of events to look forward to around Charlotte this weekend.

Saturday, Feb. 10, 6 p.m., Bojangles Coliseum, 2700 E. Independence Blvd., Charlotte

“Join the Martin Truex Jr. Foundation for an exciting night of hockey dedicated to raising awareness for ovarian cancer! $5 from each ticket purchased will go to the MTJ Foundation and support ovarian cancer initiatives in the Charlotte area.”

Saturday, Feb. 10, 9:30 p.m. - 1 a.m., The Kilted Buffalo Langtree, 119 Landings Dr. STE 101 Mooresville

“Join us for a great night of Live Music by The Normans & Mardi Gras Fun. Break out your beads and Mardi Gras party favors and join us for a great time. 9:30 - 1:30”

Saturday, Feb. 10, 8 p.m. - 9:30 p.m., Duke Family Performance Hall, 207 Faculty Drive, Davidson

On February 10, come enjoy Les Ballets Trockadero, the world's foremost all-male comic ballet company! The members of the company perform both ballet and modern dance pieces in drag and en pointe. The New York Times describes their performance as an "amalgam of ballerina finesse and daft diva antics" that is "brilliant, unsettling, riveting." Doors are at 7:30; performance starts at 8. As with all Artist Series performances, tickets are free to the first 200 students with CatCard ID who claim them from the Ticket Office in the union. Tickets for Faculty/Staff/Seniors- $17. General Public Tickets- $22.

Saturday, Feb. 10, 7 p.m., Epicenter, 210 E. Trade Street, Charlotte

Grab your beads and head uptown for this annual colorful and musical parade at the Epicenter. Tickets are $15-$25, and include a drink, cup, T-shirt, beads and admission into participating bars.

Saturday, Feb. 10, 9 a.m. - 10:30 a.m., U.S. National Whitewater Center, 5000 Whitewater Center Parkway, Charlotte

Get your feet and heart racing as you take the plunge in the Frigid 5k. Warm up with a 5k run through the Whitewater Center trail system, then be among the first to cool down very quickly as you leap into the chilly waters of the Catawba River at the U.S. National Whitewater Center.
