Annual Heroes & Helpers Event Set For Saturday In Mooresville
During this annual event, 32 children will be treated to breakfast with Santa before a shopping spree at Target with Mooresville officers.
MOORESVILLE, NC — Christmas is coming a bit early for 32 children in Mooresville this year. Mooresville Police Department is holding its annual Heroes & Helpers event Saturday, Dec. 7.
“The goal of this event is to bring joy, hope and encouragement to members of our community who really need it and to provide a positive, fun experience between the children and our local police officers,” event coordinator, MPD Detective Dan Miglin, said in a statement.
This year marks the fourth year for this event that pairs children from the community with Mooresville police officers for a shopping spree at Target on River Highway to buy items such as clothing, shoes and jackets.

“The children will begin the day at the Police Department with a breakfast with Santa before taking a “sleigh ride” (with Mooresville’s finest providing an escort) to Target for a fun morning of shopping. Each family represented will also receive a special gift to commemorate the occasion,” say event organizers.
Children participating in the event were selected based upon referrals, such as from school counselors and police officers. The event is supported by Hickory Tavern, which is providing breakfast, as well as Target, the Salvation Army of Iredell County and other Mooresville businesses and residents, organizers said.
