Arrests After Cloned Debit Cards Used In Mooresville: MPD

Police urge residents to check their bank statements after three suspects were nabbed while using cloned debit cards in Mooresville.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Three suspects who used cloned debit cards made with stolen information to make purchases at a Mooresville Harris Teeter grocery store have been arrested, Mooresville Police Department said Wednesday.

The arrests come as several gas pump card skimmers — the devices used to steal the information — have been found on pumps stations across Mooresville and Troutman, MPD said.

Officers were called to Harris Teeter on Town Center Drive May 14 after a store manager became suspicious when the suspects were using multiple debit cards to make several transactions.

The suspects attempted to flee, but were quickly taken into custody. “Officers recovered more than $1,000 in property purchased with cloned debit cards, as well as nearly $12,000 cash plus crucial pieces of evidence found inside their vehicle,” MPD said.
