Author Joe Galloway To Speak At Mooresville Library Saturday
The "We Were Soldiers Once… And Young," author will be speaking about his experience as a war correspondent during the Vietnam War.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Hollywood movies and military history are set to collide Saturday afternoon in downtown Mooresville, when famed author Joe Galloway speaks about his time as a war correspondent during the Vietnam War.
Galloway, who earned a Bronze Star for helping carry a wounded soldier to safety while under fire during the Vietnam War a co-authored “We Were Soldiers Once… And Young,” will be presenting his reflections on his experiences covering the Vietnam War as a war correspondent. Galloway’s book was turned into a hit movie in 2002, starring Mel Gibson and Barry Pepper.
Retiring from reporting for McClatchy Newspapers in 2010, Galloway has most recently worked as a consultant for Ken Burn’s PBS film, “The Vietnam War.”

Galloway’s presentation begins at 1 p.m. in the Selma Burke Room at the Mooresville Public Library located at 304 S. Main Street.
