Authorities Searching For 3 Bank Robbery Suspects In Iredell

The bank robbery suspects have not been caught and may have red dye on them or their clothing, the sheriff said.

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office and the Statesville Police Department continue their search for three suspects wanted in a Statesville bank robbery Monday afternoon.

The suspects may have red dye from the bank bag dye pack on their body or their clothing, the sheriff said.

The robbery occurred shortly before 1 p.m. at the State Employees Credit Union, located at 1742 Wilkesboro Avenue in Statesville, WSOC reported. A woman inside the bank at the time of the robbery told the station that one of the robbery suspects, who was wearing a mask, put a gun to her head during the incident.

Authorities initially searched for the suspects, who are described as three black males, one of who was considered armed with a pistol, Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said. According to Campbell, the suspects’ vehicle used in the incident was located near Canopy Oak Lane and South Chipley Ford Road.

“It appears at this time the suspects involved in the bank robbery at 1742 Wilkesboro Highway earlier today, abandoned their initial vehicle, and have left the area in another vehicle," Campbell said. "No suspects were located in the search area."
