Cadence Mooresville Celebrates Certified Wildlife Habitat Desgination
The Senior Living Community Participated in a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Earth Day
Cadence Mooresville, a senior living community near Lake Norman, has recently received certification from the National Wildlife Federation to be a Certified Wildlife Habitat.
Residents and team members participated in a ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, April 22nd to celebrate Earth Day and this honor.
The designated wildlife habitat area at Cadence Mooresville consists of a lovely garden with benches, a new bird bath, and bird feeders. Residents at Cadence Mooresville have been very involved in the process of becoming a Certified Wildlife Habitat and are excited for this recognition. The community's garden club has planted flowers and butterfly bushes to help the many species that will call this home. They added a beehive pollinator to help support the pollination of the gardens and to continue efforts to save the bees. They have placed nest supporters along their fences to encourage feathered friends to build their nests in the community trees and bird houses and residents regularly cut yarn and place it in trays for the birds to use to build their nests. They have also been “growing” caterpillars in both the Assisted Living and Memory Care neighborhoods, and released monarch butterflies during the ribbon cutting ceremony.
