Car Accident In Mooresville Downs Power Lines, Closes Schools For The Day
A car accident on NC-150 in Mooresville downed power lines, shut down traffic and schools Tuesday, leading to a 40-mile detour.

MOORESVILLE, NC -- A single car accident overnight on NC-150 in Mooresville downed power and traffic signal lines, which severed traffic on the busy artery in both directions, forcing three local schools to close for the day Tuesday.
Damages from the accident at the intersection of NC-150 and Perth Road were so extensive that repairs were not expected to be completed until Tuesday afternoon, the Mooresville Police Department said Sept. 26.
The driver of the car was traveling west on the highway when they crossed the center line and struck a pole at the intersection, which caused the vehicle to flip several times, The Charlotte Observer reported Tuesday. While the damages did not impact power to area homes, the downed lines prevented access to Lake Norman High School, Lakeshore Middle School and Lakeshore Elementary schools because buses were not able to leave the campus, the newspaper reported.
