Charges In Iredell In Sex Assault Of 10-Year-Old Girl: Sheriff
Iredell County's sheriff said Daniel Lopez Ruiz was accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl earlier this month.
MOORESVILLE, NC — Iredell County deputies have arrested and charged a man accused of sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl in her home, Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campell said in a statement today.
The assault was reported to the sheriff’s office March 20, five days after the victim said the alleged abuse occurred. The victim identified Daniel Lopez Ruiz as the suspect.
According to Campell, Ruiz is a resident of Mexico and arrived in Iredell County March 12 — three days before the alleged assault took place.

On Thursday, March 22, Ruiz was located and charged with one count of felony indecent liberties with a child. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Iredell County Detention Center. Bond for his release has been set at $250,000.
