Charges For Lake Norman High Student Stem From Violent Videos: Sheriff

A Lake Norman High student has been charged for making a false report after violent videos were found online, Iredell's Sheriff said Monday.

MOORESVILLE, NC -- A Lake Norman High School student has been charged with making a false report concerning mass violence at a school after violent videos by the student were discovered online, according to Iredell County’s sheriff.

The sheriff’s department launched an investigation Sept. 25 after the videos were discovered online, Sheriff Darren Campbell said in a statement Monday. “I have zero tolerance when it comes to threats against our students and faculty at our schools,” Campbell said.

“The videos were of graphic nature involving violent shootings from a video game and being narrated by a juvenile that was currently under suspension for verbally making a similar threat the prior week,” Campbell said “This student was also involved in a suspension last school year involving a weapon on school property and a threat of violence at another school.”
