Children’s Author Nina Crews To Speak At Mooresville Library
The children's book author of "The Neighborhood Mother Goose" and "Below" will headline two events at the library March 7.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Children’s book author Nina Crews will be speaking at the Mooresville Public Library March 7, the library said Tuesday.
Here’s what Mooresville Public Library says about the upcoming event:
MPL Assistant Director, Nancy Handy, said that she believes Crews will be a big draw as “several of her books are American Library Association (ALA) Notable Selections, which are recognized works that are available in almost every public library and school library setting.”
Some of Crews’ books that have received accolades include “The Neighborhood Mother Goose” and “Below.” Additionally, her most recently published book, “Seeing into Tomorrow: Haiku by Richard Wright,” has been selected by the National Council of Teachers of English as one of their Notable Poetry Books for 2019.
The library will be hosting two sessions with Crews, one aimed more at school-age children, and the other geared towards adults. The children’s program, which is set to begin at 4:30 p.m., will include a story time with Crews and a collage workshop, as Crews herself is an artist and often uses the medium to illustrate her books.
The adult program will begin at 6:30 p.m., and Handy encouraged all aspiring authors and illustrators to attend. Crews plans to talk about her family, Donald Crews and Ann Jonas, who are also children’s book authors, and discuss how she gets her ideas and puts them to paper. There will be a question and answer period at the end.
In between the two programs, attendees will have an opportunity to purchase books and get them autographed by Crews, courtesy of the Friends of the Library. Refreshments will also be provided.
