‘Church Shield’ Class To Be Held Saturday: Iredell Sheriff

The Iredell County Sheriff's Office is holding a "Church Shield" security class Saturday. Here's what you need to know.

MOORESVILLE, NC — The Iredell County Sheriff’s Office is conducting its “Church Shield” class Saturday in Statesville, and is accepting reservations for the course.

The program will cover issues such as church security concerns, security team training, as well as concealed carry laws and how they apply to houses of worship in North Carolina, the sheriff’s office said.

The April 7 course will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Iredell County Agriculture Center located at 444 Bristol Drive in Statesville.

The course is free, but those interested in attending are encouraged to reserve a space. To make a reservation, call 704-878-3180 and ask for Sheriff Darren Campbell or Captain Bill Hamby.

Campbell recently told the Statesville Record & Landmark that the sheriff’s office has conducted more than 120 security classes with churches in the county.
