Community Tips Lead To Drug Charges For Iredell Woman: Sheriff
Nicole Ruth Mahaffey was arrested and charged with trafficking opium after neighbors tipped off the Iredell County Sheriff's Office.

STATESVILLE, NC — Community complaints about the volume of traffic of vehicles and people at an Iredell county residence that sparked a narcotics investigation has led to an arrest and charges for opium trafficking, Iredell County’s sheriff said Wednesday.
Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received “numerous complaints” about activities neighbors feared were possible drug sales at the home located at 1826 Old Mocksville Road in Statesville, Sheriff Darren Campbell said.
Narcotics investigators set up a surveillance operation on the home and “quickly verified” the complaints, Campbell said. On May 8, detectives approached resident Nicole Ruth Mahaffey, who gave them permission to search the home.
