Dale Jr. Foundation Postpones Mooresville Fundraiser To Oct. 12
The inaugural "Let Hope Shine" event to honor cancer fighters was scheduled for Wednesday, but pushed back because of expected rain.

MOORESVILLE, NC —The Dale Jr. Foundation, run by racing legend Dale Earnhardt Jr., announced Tuesday that it had postponed Wednesday's inaugural "Let Hope Shine" charity event at Cornelius Road Park in Mooresville because of rain in the forecast.
According to the Dale Jr. Foundation, the event has been rescheduled for 6 p.m. on Oct 12, also at Cornelius Road Park, 247 Cornelius Road.
The event, which has been coordinated in conjunction with The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation - run by the 2007 NASCAR Series Champion driver -will honor cancer fighters everywhere with the lighting of special luminary candles, according to the Dale Jr. Foundation. Candles, tickets and t-shirts remain available for purchase on the Dale Jr. Foundation website.

The "Let Hope Shine" event originally was scheduled to take place during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.
According to the Dale Jr. Foundation, the event also will feature food trucks and activities for kids. Both Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Martin Truex Jr. were scheduled to appear at Wednesday's event.

"We're excited to partner with The Martin Truex Jr. Foundation to bring the community together to honor, celebrate and remember individuals and families affected by cancer. 'Let Hope Shine' is about gathering families together to shine a light on hope." said Regina Smith, director of The Dale Jr. Foundation.
According to its website, the Dale Jr. Foundation is dedicated to giving underprivileged individuals, with a focus on youth, the resources to improve confidence, education and the opportunity to achieve extraordinary goals.
The organization has contributed to over 400 charities nationally and locally, including The Make-A-Wish Foundation, Blessings in a Backpack and the Mooresville Soup Kitchen.
