Dead Gnats In The Ice Maker: Mooresville Kitchen Inspections
Recent Iredell kitchen inspections found dead gnats, greasy waffle iron and food stored on the floor. How clean is your favorite restaurant?

MOORESVILLE, NC — Two Mooresville area restaurant kitchens saw their health ratings drop recently after a health inspector found infractions including dead gnats in an ice maker, greasy kitchen equipment in need of cleaning and food kept at potentially hazardous temperatures.

At Amaravti, an inspector found numerous food items held at “potentially hazardous” temperatures, including heavy cream, chicken, cheese, meatballs, shrimp and vegetables — all of which had to be thrown out. Food items were also found stored on the floor, which is against health code, and four containers of sauce not properly dated.

At IHOP, an inspector found dead gnats in the top inside of the ice machine and a greasy waffle maker in need of cleaning.
