Domestic Violence 911 Call Leads To Manhunt In Mooresville

Law enforcement used police dogs and aerial drones to find Donald Beaver, 32, who faces 20 charges from three counties.

MOORESVILLE, NC — A 911 call reporting domestic violence Thursday in Mooresville led to a manhunt for a suspect wanted on 20 charges in three counties, according to Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell.

Iredell County Sheriff’s Office received a call July 19 from a woman who told deputies that the suspect, Donald Lee Beaver, had assaulted her in her home on Hobbs Lane in Mooresville. She told deputies she believed he had walked to her home and was possibly still in the woods nearby.

Deputies launched a search for Beaver, setting up a perimeter around the area and deploying a K-9 team and aerial drones.

According to ICSO, a tip from a resident in the community a short time later said that Beaver was in a truck, which deputies located and attempted to pull over in at traffic stop at Ridge Bluff Road and High Bluff Circle in Mooresville.

Beaver, however, jumped out of the passenger side door of the truck and ran, prompting a short foot chase before he was eventually apprehended and taken into custody.

According to the sheriff’s office, Beaver was charged with several warrants stemming from investigations in Iredell County, Rowan County and Surry County. He was charged with three counts of felony breaking and entering, three counts of felony larceny, three counts of misdemeanor larceny, felony larceny of a motor vehicle, three counts of felony possession stolen goods, three misdemeanor counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, resisting obstruction or delay of an officer and two counts of misdemeanor failure to appear in court and a probation violation.

His secured bond was set at $195,000.
