Educational Bird Event For Children Set For Feb. 1 In Mooresville

Know a young bird lover who would love to dissect owl poop? There's opportunity to do just and more at this upcoming educational event.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Young bird lovers will have an opportunity to learn about habitats, diets and more at the “Birds, Birds, Birds” event sponsored by Mooresville Parks and Recreation this weekend.

The event geared for children ages 7 through 12 is set for Saturday, Feb. 1 from 10 a.m. until noon at the Selma Burke Center, which is located at 781 Agape Drive in Mooresville. The cost is $10.

Here’s what organizers say about the event:
“What do you think life would be like if you were a bird? What would you eat? How would you build your nest? With twigs? Leaves? Come and learn about birds’ habitats and their diets by dissecting an owl pellet. Challenge yourself to build a bird nest using natural materials capable of withstanding a ‘windstorm’. This is a fun and engaging opportunity for families to be ‘feathered flyers’ for an evening. Participants under the age of 10 must be accompanied by an adult."
