Expect Gusty Winds, Possible Hail In Mooresville This Evening

Winds could gust as high as 40 mph Friday, which could make driving difficult, the National Weather Service said.

MOORESVILLE, NC — It’s time to batten down the hatches. A strong cold front moving into the piedmont of North Carolina Friday afternoon will bring strong winds — some as high as gusts of 40 mph — and possible hail up to an inch in diameter, according to the National Weather Service.

“Winds of 15 to 25 MPH with frequent gusts between 30 and 40 MPH can be expected,” NWS warned Friday. “Any loose or unsecured objects may blow around, and the strong winds may lead to some difficulty in driving, especially for high profile vehicles. Winds will subside this evening.”

The isolated thunderstorms could be strong and severe along the Interstate 77 corridor, and possibly include hail up to 1-inch in diameter, NWS said.
