First Wave Of Massive Drug Bust In Iredell County Nabs 20
Deputies have arrest warrants for more than 65 suspects in what has been called Iredell County's Sheriff Office largest drug bust ever.

MOORESVILLE, NC — A massive drug bust in Iredell County nabbed at least 20 suspects early Monday morning with more to come. In what Sheriff Darren Campbell has dubbed “Operation Autumn Sweep,” the sheriff’s office has warrants for 65 suspects wanted for selling drugs in Iredell County.
The first wave of arrests began before dawn, at 5:30 a.m., Campbell said.
Additional arrests will occur throughout the day as deputies locate suspects, the Mooresville Tribune said, adding that the narcotics investigation marks the largest ever for the sheriff’s office.

The scores of warrants represent hundreds of man hours, which include undercover drug buys, interviews and collecting evidence. According to Campbell, the narcotics associated with the charges are not “small time drugs” and include crack cocaine, cocaine, methamphetamine, pills or heroin.
“We want to make sure we send a clear message that if you’re going to deal drugs in Iredell County, we will come after you,” Campbell said.

In a video posted Monday morning, a line of suspects can be seen walking across the parking lot in front of the Sheriff’s Office in Statesville, shivering in the morning cold. Most had their hands shoved in pockets, and those wearing sweatshirts with hoods had them pulled low over their faces. “You’re doing a fine job,” one male suspect said as a reporter in the parking lot held out a microphone for comment.
This is a developing story and will be updated when more information becomes available.
