Glass Recyling Changes Announced In Mooresville

Do you recycle glass? You'll now need to take it to a county transfer station, Town of Mooresville said. Here's why.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Changes at recycling center in our area means residents who recycle glass will now need to take another step to do so, according to the Town of Mooresville.

“The Materials Recovery Facility that serves our area, including Troutman & Statesville, is no longer recycling glass,” the town said Dec. 20. “However, Iredell County WILL accept clean, self-sorted glass at the Transfer Station in Mooresville and at the landfill in Statesville.

“Much of the glass received in that manner is usable and repurposed,” the town said. “Unfortunately, there are high contamination rates in glass collected in single stream, curbside recycling. At this time, the closest company to us that accepts AND recycles glass is in Wilson, NC.”
