Hot, Muggy Week Ahead: Here's When Mooresville Could See Rain
The Mooresville area could begin to see strong storms Tuesday afternoon as the heat index tops 100, the National Weather Service said.
MOORESVILLE, NC — As the heat index soars to 100 degrees, Iredell County could see thunderstorms this week, with strong storms beginning Tuesday afternoon, the National Weather Service said.
“Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms are expected to develop across the mountains this afternoon, while a few isolated storms will be possible across the piedmont, ”NWS said in a July 16 hazardous weather outlook bulletin. “The primary threats today will be gusty winds, heavy rain, and cloud-to-ground lightning. One or two storms may be strong enough to produce damaging wind gusts.”
The heat is expected to stick around in the Charlotte metro, with temperatures hovering in the mid to upper 90s through the weekend, NWS said.
