Iredell Business Donates Equipment For Rape Self-Defense Course
A business donated $1,200 worth of gear for the sheriff's office's rape self-defense course. Here's how to register for the next event.
IREDELL COUNTY, NC — An Iredell County business donated $1,200 in video and camera equipment to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office for its Rape Aggression Defense (R.A.D.) Training Course, ICSO said.
The defensive skills taught in the R.A.D. courses are designed for average people with no background in physical training. According to the program, at least 900,000 women have taken the course.
This past spring, the employees of the sheriff’s office conducted three R.A.D. courses for employees at Hexpol Compounding NC Inc. in Statesville.

This week, the company donated two GoPro video camera, as well as accessories and computer equipment to the sheriff’s office for the self-defense training, Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said Thursday in a statement.
Campblell called the company’s donation “extremely generous” and said it would be beneficial to instructors teaching the course.

“We have taught this course to numerous businesses, to school groups, civic groups and in many churches,” Campbell siad. “We will make the scheduling available for anyone who wants to receive this beneficial training.”
ICSO’s next R.A.D. training will be Saturday, July 20 and Sunday, July 21.
