Iredell Commissioners To Consider School Bond Referendum Oct. 1
County commissioners are holding a hearing to gauge support for a school bond referendum as schools brace of wave of new home construction.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Iredell County’s growing population is prompting county officials to consider placing a school bond referendum before voters in the spring. Iredell County’s Board of Commissioners will hold the hearing Oct. 1 to hear from the community at the Iredell County Government Center, located at 200 South Center Street in Statesville at 7 p.m.
Community members attending the Oct. 1 hearing may speak for up to three minutes. More information about the public comment period rules may be found here.
“If there is enough positive feedback at this hearing, commissioners will vote at their December meeting to officially put the bond on the ballot,” in March 2020, Mooresville Graded School District said Friday.

According to the school district, the bond is being considered as more than 10,000 new homes are scheduled for construction in the southern end of the county, including Troutman and Mooresville. A map compiled by school officials showing locations of new subdivisions projects under review or in early stages of development may be found here.
“Lake Norman High, South Iredell High and Mooresville Middle School are already at capacity,” MGSD said.
