Iredell Coronavirus Update: Count Grows To 108 Confirmed Cases
The number of confirmed positive coronavirus cases has grown in Iredell County. Here's the latest COVID-19 update.
MOORESVILLE, NC — The number of confirmed positive cases of novel coronavirus, which causes COVID-19, is now 108, up by four cases since Monday, according to data released Wednesday morning from the Iredell County Health Department.
At least six people in Iredell County have lost their lives due to coronavirus-related illness, ICHD said.
The tally is cumulative and includes at least 64 cases that are assumed recovered, according to county health data.

"Reporting the number of cases that appear to have recovered is a complicated process," ICHD said in a recent statement. "Some infected people will have mild symptoms and others find themselves with more severe symptoms. People have varying experiences on how the virus runs its course, making reporting the number of those who have appeared to have recovered a complicated process, adding, "Full-recovery' looks different for everyone and cannot truly be defined or measured at this time."
At least four Iredell County residents were hospitalized for coronavirus-related illness, as of Wednesday morning.

Statewide, COVID-19 cases continue to rise. There are now at least 9,948 people in North Carolina who have tested positive for COVID-19, and the statewide death toll was at 354, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services said Wednesday morning.
The number of outbreaks confirmed in congregate living facilities in the state, such as nursing homes and residential care facilities, continues to rise as deaths reported in these facilities claim at least half of the state's death toll.
One such outbreak was reported recently at an Iredell County nursing home. The Iredell long-term care facility is one of 49 nursing homes and 20 residential care facilities in the state reporting an outbreak of the new coronavirus, which causes COVID-19, NC DHHS said Wednesday.
Iredell County health officials are grouping cases into three regions of the county: North, Central and South. Here's a breakdown of where cases are emerging as of 9 a.m. April 29, according to the Iredell County Department of Health:
North Region (zip codes 27020, 27028, 27055, 28625, 28634, 28636, 28660, 28689 ad 28678)
- 11 cases
Central Region (zip codes 27013, 28166, 28677)
- 33 cases
South Region (zip codes 28036, 28115, 28117, 28125)
- 64 cases

According to county health data, those in the age group of 50 to 64 years of age represent 34 percent of all Iredell cases, followed by those 25 to 49 years of age with 32 percent of the cases and 18 to 24 years of age with 14 percent of cases. Those 65 and older make up 19 percent of COVID-19 cases in Iredell County.
At least one person infected with COVID-19 in Iredell County is under age of 17.
