Iredell County Man Wins $150K In Lottery: Here’s How He Did It

Michael Douglas of Troutman won $150,000, North Carolina Education Lottery announced Monday.

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — An Iredell County man is $150,000 richer after scratching off a winning lottery ticket.

Michael Douglas of Troutman won the prize money playing “Bonus Crossword Cash” scratch off game, North Carolina Education Lottery said Monday. He purchased the $5 ticket in Statesville, at Fast Phil’s on Mocksville Highway.

“He claimed his prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Raleigh,” NCEL said. “After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $106,126.”

Douglas is the first player to win the top prize for the scratch-off game that launched earlier this month, which means two $150,000 prizes remain, lottery officials said.
