Iredell Health Department Plans No Cost COVID-19 Testing Events

IREDELL COUNTY, NC — Iredell County Health Department will soon hold community COVID-19 testing events in Mooresville and Statesville as part of a statewide push to expand testing throughout North Carolina.

There are no out-of-pocket costs for the tests, ICHD said.

Statesville Testing Events
A June 16 testing event in will take place from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Boys and Girl Club, located at 1001 Cochran Street in Statesville.

On Tuesday, June 23, ICHD will hold a testing event at Western Avenue Baptist Church, located at 1206 Museum Road, Statesville, also from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m.

Mooresville Testing Events
On Thursday, June 18, a testing event is scheduled from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Mooresville High School, located at 659 E. Center Avenue. Another event is scheduled at the same site from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday, June 25.

Health officials will be testing people with COVID-19 related symptoms, as well as anyone who has been in close contact with a known positive case, at a high risk for exposure or at higher risk for severe disease, regardless if symptoms are present.

How To Sign Up For A Test

  • Anyone seeking a test much first complete a virtual visit with StarMed before testing. That website may be found here.
  • Click the red box “Schedule Virtual Visit.” Choose “Iredell County” in the drop-down box and select a virtual visit appointment time. Answer the questions to receive a virtual appointment confirmation email.
  • During scheduling the virtual appointment, please have insurance information ready. If the patient does not have insurance, they can still be tested.

Who Should Get Tested:

  • Individuals who live in or have regular contact with high-risk settings (e.g., long-term care facility, homeless shelter, correctional facility, migrant farmworker camp)
  • Those who are at high risk of severe illness (e.g. people over 65 years of age, people of any age with underlying health conditions)
  • Individuals who come from historically marginalized populations (e.g., minority populations, individuals of low socio-economic status, etc.)
  • Healthcare workers or first responders (e.g. EMS, law enforcement, fire department, military)
  • Front-line and essential workers (grocery store clerks, gas station attendants, etc.) in settings where social distancing is difficult to maintain
