Iredell Man Charged With Statutory Rape, Sexual Offense: Sheriff

STATESVILLE, NC — A 19-year-old Iredell County man has been charged with multiple counts of statutory rape and sexual assault of a juvenile stemming from incidents that date back to 2016, according to the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office.

ICSO received a report of the alleged sexual assaults on Jan. 21, and said the victim told authorities about several incidents where she was sexually assaulted by the suspect, who has been identified as Caleb Wayne Meadows, 19, of Statesville.

The incidents were said to have occurred between June 9 and August 29, 2016, ICSO said.

“Additional witnesses were interviewed, social media accounts were searched, and other evidence was gathered,” ICSO said in a statement.

Meadows was arrested March 21, and charged with two counts of felony first degree statutory rape, along with two counts of felony first degree statutory sexual offense.

Meadows was transported to the Iredell County Detention Center and his secured bond has been set at $100,000.
