Iredell Sheriff Searching For Thief Caught On Camera
Iredell's sheriff is looking for a suspect caught on camera breaking into cars, and is asking for the public's help identifying him.

STATESVILLE, NC — After asking for the public's help identifying a suspected thief, Iredell County Sheriff Darren Campbell said deputies now have leads on the identity of the man caught on camera breaking into a car and SUV in Statesville early Tuesday morning.
The breaking and entering occurred shortly before 3 a.m. July 31 in the 500 block of Carolina Avenue in Statesville.
Campbell posted a video of the suspect in action Thursday, and within hours said he had been identified through tips from the community.

The video, which has since been removed from the sheriff's office's Facebook page, showed a white male leaning inside the driver side of the car, shining a small flashlight around the vehicle’s interior. Periodically, the suspect poked his head out of the opened car door to look around, before rummaging through the car trunk and, later, opening the back hatch of the SUV parked next to it.
Campbell described the suspect as a white male, about 6 feet tall with thinning hair, glasses, and a tattoo on his right arm just above his elbow.
