Lowe’s Cutting More Than 200 Jobs In Charlotte: Report
Lowe's announced it was cutting 207 jobs in Charlotte and relocating about 600 jobs from Wilkesboro to Mooresville, according to reports.
MOORESVILLE, NC — Mooresville-based Lowe’s announced major staffing changes Thursday, including culling 207 jobs at a north Charlotte warehouse and relocating approximately 600 corporate positions from Wilkesboro to its Lake Norman headquarters, according to reports.
Additionally, about 80 tech jobs currently based in Wilkesboro will be transferred to a Lowe’s data center in Winston-Salem, The Charlotte Observer reported.
The aim of colocating corporate positions is to boost “the collaboration and effectiveness of our corporate functions by having these teams work side by side,” Lowe’s Vice President of Communications Dan Frahm told the newspaper. The company is offering some employees with positions moving to Mooresville relocation assistance and says the moves will be completed by the end of 2019.

The job cuts at the cross-dock terminal facility on David Cox Road in north Charlotte where large bulk items are housed were prompted by the company’s decision to hire a third-party vender next month, the newspaper said.
