Man Broke Into His Ex’s House, Tried To Set In On Fire: MPD

Damien Burney was arrested by Mooresville police, who charged him with breaking into his ex-girlfriend's home and trying to set it on fire.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Police have arrested a Mooresville man they say broke into his ex-girlfriend’s home and attempted to set the house of fire.

Damien Burney, 35, was arrested Sept. 15 after a woman living in the 600 block of Brookwood Street in north Mooresville called police, and told officers her ex-boyfriend broke into her home and attempted to assault her.

“The victim retreated to a locked area of the house and the suspect subsequently attempted to set the interior of the residence on fire,” a Mooresville Police Department statement said.

Burney was taken into custody and charged with him with attempted arson, assault with a deadly weapon, breaking and entering of a residence, damage to property and trespassing.

He was taken to the Iredell County Jail and held with no bond set.
