Massive Fire Destroys 6 Homes Under Construction In Mooresville
The overnight fire spread from house to house, destroying six of the 13 homes under construction in the Mooresville neighborhood.
MOORESVILLE, NC — A massive overnight fire in south Iredell County that destroyed nearly half of a housing development under construction is under investigation, according to fire officials.
Fire fighters from Mooresville Fire-Rescue and South Iredell Volunteer Fire Department responded to the blaze on Samara Lane in the The Reserve at Ashlyn Creek subdivision shortly before midnight, where they found numerous homes under construction on fire.
“Additional resources were requested as firefighters started a defensive attack on the fire and focused efforts on preventing the fire from spreading even further,” Mooresville Fire-Rescue said in a statement.

Six of the 13 homes under construction were considered a complete loss, and a seventh home suffered significant fire damage, fire officials said. “Additionally, several buildings across the street from the destroyed homes received minor to moderate damage from radiant heat,” MFR said.
Investigators from the Mooresville Fire-Rescue Fire Marshal’s Office, Mooresville Police Department, North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation, and the North Carolina Office of the State Fire Marshal have launched an investigation into the cause of the fire.
