Men Caught Shoplifting Booze Tied To Mooresville Car Break-Ins
Investigators linked the two men to at least two recent Mooresville-area vehicle break-ins. Here's what was recovered.
MOORESVILLE, NC — Two men caught stealing alcohol from a Mooresville business were also linked to a string of vehicle breaking and entering cases in the area, the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.
Two of the vehicle break-ins were reported July 15 on Faith Road, ICSO said.
That same night, Aaron James Byrd, 23 and of Statesville; and Dre’Quan Ramon Stephens, 23 and of Mooresville were arrested by Mooresville Police Department for stealing alcohol from an area store, ICSO said.

During that arrest, MPD recovered two Garmin GPS units, kitchen knives, a purse, a woman’s wallet, debit cards and a book bag.
“Detectives were able to develop information which proved Dre’Quan Ramon Stephens and Aaron James Byrd were suspects in this and many other vehicle breaking and enterings in the Mooresville area,” ICSO said in a statement.

Detectives with the sheriff’s office obtained warrants and both men were arrested July 23, and charged with two counts of felony breaking and entering of motor vehicles and two counts of misdemeanor larceny.
