Missing Mooresville Man's Body Found
Michael Scott Bell, a former CMPD officer, had gone missing Wednesday evening in Mooresville. Sadly, his body was found Thursday afternoon.
MOORESVILLE, NC -- The body of a Mooresville man who was a former Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department officer has been located, CMPD announced Thursday afternoon. Hours earlier, authorities had asked the public for help in locating Michael Scott Bell, 40, who had gone missing in the Mooresville area April 19 around 5 p.m.
Bell was an officer for CMPD from September 2009 until December 2016, and was last assigned to the University City Division.
When reporting his disappearance, authorities said he was believed to be at risk due to recent health issues. Bell's body was located around 1 p.m. along his normal walking route. His death is being investigated by Mooresville police. "Though the investigation is in its early stages, initial indicators are that medial factors may have been at play," CMPD said.
