Mooresville High School’s SkillsUSA Team Earns 24 Medals
Mooresville High's team earned eight first-place medals, as part of its awards haul in Greensboro over the weekend.

MOORESVILLE, NC — Four Mooresville High School students are headed to the SkillsUSA national competition in Kentucky this summer after a weekend competition in Greensboro netted the school’s chapter 24 medals, Mooresville Graded School District said Monday.
Sixty students from Mooresville High School’s SkillsUSA chapter attended the SkillsUSA State Leadership and Skills Conference last week in Greensboro, North Carolina. The conference brought in almost 3,000 students from around the state.
The high school’s chapter earned 24 medals during the conference, including 8 first place, 4 second place, 5 third place, 6 fourth place and 1 fifth place, the district said.

Students Carter Gerwitz and Ethan Jones and Olivia Carr and Isabelle Gutierrez will be headed to Nationals in June in Louisville, KY. for their respective projects on additive manufacturing and digital cinema production.

- Additive Manufacturing - Carter Gerwitz and Ethan Jones (headed to Nationals)

- Carpentry Skill Showcase - Dakota Clanton, James Foil, Cody Mitchell, Matthew Moore
2nd place:
- Robotics Urban Search & Rescue - Henry Brown and Eshan Parikh
- Technical Drafting - Abby Smith
- Job Skill Demonstration Open - Gracie Carr (Special Effect makeup with model Morgan Fletcher)
3rd place:
- Teamworks - Brandon Bright, Ty Buckhanan, Damien Mussetter, Chavis Rios
- Carpentry 1 - Luke Stroud
4th place:
- Engineering Technology & Design - Benjamin Campbell, Hunter Douthit, Andrew Steagall
- Photography - Sarah Archer

5th place:
